I’m having another one of “those” days

Some things in life are just not fair

Some things in life are just not fair

Now today it may be my turn to cry…

As I told you a couple of posts ago wifey and I are having money problems. Well this last week things got worse because we tried to get a small loan to buy us some time until we can start making money again and we were turned down flat. Wifey has been in a downward spiral for the last couple of days and I’m ready to join her there. We don’t have money for the mortgage, or for an equity loan we took out. We’re getting assistance for the gas bill and phone bill and hope to be getting some soon for the electric bill. We also need to figure out a way to pay the cable bill before they shut it off.

Now I can hear some of you working it right now. You’re saying that sacrifices have to be made and that cable TV in an unnecessary luxury that we should just get rid of. Wrongo. We need to keep the cable turned on because that’s where our Internet connection is. That’s right, we don’t pay them – everything stops. The cable gets shut off and all communication whit the outside world stops. Wifey’s eBay business shuts down, this site as well as the other two sites I operate shut down, I can’t look for a job – everything stops. So we are having to resort to drastic measures…

…we’re selling my car.

Excuse me while I pull the dagger out of my heart…

Going down to one car is something that I didn’t want to have to do, but were are at the point where we have no other choice. I know that, I get it, but it doesn’t mean that I have to like it and it doesn’t mean that I have to be happy about it because believe me – I’m not. I’ve wanted to own a Saturn for a long time and now I finally do and I don’t want to have to give it up, especially now that the company may be forced to close down. With our track record if I sell this car then I will never get another car ever again, and if something happens to the car that we have left then we are in real trouble. Having a backup in case of accidents was always a safety net. Now that safety net will be gone.

And yeah I can hear it now from you employed know-it-alls out there: “Well then why don’t you just get up off your fat ass and hit the bricks? It’s how we did it in the old days.” First of all for any of you saying that right now, that is the stupidest thing you could possibly say. Nobody “hits the bricks” anymore because everything is so spread out – especially if you live in a rural area like we do. Walking someplace so that you can just apply for a job, let alone go to work at one, is not done anymore because it takes too long. I could walk all day where I live and be lucky if I find one place that is accepting applications. However I probably wouldn’t make a good first impression considering how hot a sweaty I would be. Besides, who would seriously hire me if I don’t have access to a car?

Not only that but no one just walks into a place of business and asks for a job anymore, you know why? Because if someone actually did that then that business would toss you out the door and then call the cops!!! Look in the local fishwrap, look online at the ads on Monster or CareerBuilder, what is the one thing these places that are advertising for employees don’t put into these ads? An address, that’s what!!! They don’t want people showing up on their doorsteps unannounced! They have no idea what you’re capable of if they tell you that they are not hiring. They don’t know if you are just going to go away quietly or if you’re going to pullout a gun and start shooting people! That’s why telling someone to “hit the bricks” is not only stupid, it is counter-productive and a huge waste of time, so don’t even go there!

This is not a fun time right now. Yeah I’m trying to market this place however I can and using whatever techniques I pick up from the blogging manual’s I read, but it is slow going and we are running out of time.

Wifey’s on the phone with her Dad right now asking him for a loan to buy us some time, but from what I’m hearing coming out of the bedroom doesn’t sound very good.

Guess I’d better go clean my soon-to-be-former-car and take lots of pictures to remember it by.

Fuck!

update: Check that, wifey is talking to auntie right now about floating us a loan and it actually sounds encouraging. More later.

another update: Auntie agreed to send us some caysh, but I still have to sell my car.

RATS!!!
