Memo to the yobless: watch out for scams!

We won't get fooled again...
You know in this economy this next bit should surprise me…but it doesn’t.
There are a lot of scam artists out there who are going to try to take advantage of you simply because you are out of work right now. You’ve probably come across them already in your e-mail box or your snail-mail box. Offers to show you “how to get a government grant” or ” you can make $5,000.00 stuffing envelopes!!!” Yeah, I’ve gotten those too.
Every time I get one of these things I always think the same thing: “Oh yeah, right!!!” Last night was no exception. I was looking in my junk file when I came across one that had the subject line “I’ve visited your website http://pcfootball.net/Classifieds/business_opportunities.htm”. PCFootball.net is one of the other sites that I own and that is the address of one of the pages there. Here is what the body of the e-mail said:
Hi,
We’ve seen your website at http://pcfootball.net/Classifieds/business_opportunities.htm and we love it!
We looked at your traffic rank and your link popularity.
With that kind of traffic, we will pay you up to $4,800/month to advertise our links on your website.
If you’re interested, read our terms from this page:http://tinyurl.com/cf8zjg
Sincerely,
Mike McCoy
The ContactThem Network
I was sceptical but curious at the same time so I decided to leave it until today so I could do some research.
Well the research tells me that this is nothing more than a ploy to try to get me and others like me roped into a MLM scam that would ensure that I spend tons of money for little or no return. Rather than copy and paste down everything that they said I’ll just give you the links you need to see for yourselves:

So what you need to do is be vigilant, you need to watch out for scams such as this because it will distract you from looking for an actual job. There have been times when I myself put my time and energy into something like this only to not have it work out in the end. Meanwhile time has gone by and whatever job opportunities might have been there were now gone and I end up feeling like an idiot with nothing to show for it.
That’s why all of us, the unemployed, the underutilized, we have to look after each other and warn each other about the dangers that are out there. For instance – it is imperative that all of you keep an eye on your credit especially because there are credit thieves out there who will try to steal your identity. they think that someone who is out of work right now is an easy mark and won’t be as vigilant because they are distracted. So play your cards close to the vest. Shred all credit card offers you do nothing with, keep all personal documents under lock and key, and remember not to give out any personal information to someone you don’t know or someone you suspect is not legitimate.
And if you have questions about the legitimacy of something you get in the mail or your InBox, google it and see what other people say about it. I could end up saving you a lot of time and money in the long run.
In the meantime don’t worry, and think about what it is that you do want to do – and I mean really want to do. What is it that you love? What is your passion? Think of yourself getting paid to do something that you love and the Universe will line that up for you. I did, and now I’m writing a blog and loving it.
So trust me, attraction really works.
