If it isn’t bad enough that we have Teabaggers (some of whom happen to be our parents) telling us that we are all a bunch of lazy, good-for-nothing deadbeats, who really don’t want to work and would rather collect unemployment insurance and have the Government take care of us for the rest of our lives, now we have members of Congress chiming in and saying the same thing.

Study this list well Ladies and Gentlemen, these are the 41 men and women who do not want your children to have food to eat tonight. These are the 41 men and women who want everything you own to be taken away from you, and for you and your families to be thrown out onto the street with only the clothes on your back. These are the 41 men and women who do not want you to be able to go back to work so that you can support your families. These are the 41 men and women whose philosophy is the following:
Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons? Better yet, let them die and decrease the excess population.
- Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carrol
Unfortunately these 41 men and women in the US Senate are not alone. There are millions of other people out there who hold that same opinion about us – they wish that we would just roll over and die already and relieve the Earth of our filth.
Some of them work for FOX News.
Some of them are members of the Tea Party Movement.
Some of them are so-called friends and relatives.
And some of them post at sites like Townhall.com and Newsvine.
They all have several things in common with each other:
1. Even though they say we should go out and get a job – that is the last thing that they actually want us to do. Some of these people actually like it that we are out of work and struggling to survive. The main reason they enjoy this is because it is entertaining to them, it gives them an almost orgasmic pleasure to watch us struggle to survive every day and keep trying for jobs that they feel that we should not get and don’t deserve. They have totally and completely written us off as worthless members of society and have no desire to see us rejoin it.
2. Right now the employment situation in this country has created a class of “haves” and a class of “have-nots”. The “haves” are currently employed or they are retired and collecting some sort of pension. Some of those people don’t want to see us go back to work either. In the case of the ones with jobs they are afraid that we will take their job away from them and they will then be in our position. In the case of the retirees, many of them are the ones who are attending Tea Party rallies and calling us “lazy deadbeats” who don’t want to work and would rather sit on our asses and collect unemployment for the rest of their lives and let the government take care of them.
I don’t know if any of you are familiar with what psychologists call “projection”. That is when you want to deflect attention away from your own bad or hurtful behavior, you accuse someone else of engaging in that very same behavior and trying to make them responsible for it. Trust me, I know whereof I speak – my father was a master at it, which is why we haven’t spoken for 19 years and I didn’t want him at my wedding or at my mother’s funeral. This is exactly the type of behavior that many on the boards at Townhall and Newsvine have accused us of. They are the ones who are sitting on their asses, not working, collecting a pension, cashing a Social Security check, and expecting the Government to take care of their medical needs by way of Medicare.
And they have the nerve to call us lazy? Could it be that they somehow feel guilty that they are not out there earning a living anymore? Could it be that they are trying to make the rest of us responsible for what they feel about themselves? Think about it.

Behold...the GOP's Lord and Master!
3. Republicans in Congress or their mouthpieces on FOX News don’t actually want us to go back to work. Their lord and master Boss Hogg would rather see us poor, starving and in the streets of America like during the Great Depression, if not rounded up and thrown into concentration camps for the poor. You see if we went back to work then that would mean that President Obama has succeeded in saving the country. They don’t want President Obama to save the country, they would rather see the country “fail” then to see an African-American Democrat from Illinois save it for the rest of us. Besides if we went back to work then that would solve one of the problems that this country has at the moment: the inability for 17% of us to support our families and insure their survival.
If that problem was solved then the people and entities that I mentioned above would not be able to complain about that problem, and then blame the problem on President Obama. We all know that there are people out there in the world who are never happier then when they are making people miserable, or when they are complaining about a problem. This way they get the best of both worlds, they get to complain about the problem and they get to try to make the people who are effected by the problem fell responsible for that problem. This is the old “see what you made me do to you” defense that a lot of abusers use on those that they slap around. It is unfortunate that people like Boss Hogg, Bill O’Reily, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachman use these tactics because in the end a lot of innocent people get hurt. It is really unfortunate that those people feel that the innocent people who do get hurt by this somehow deserve it, and have brought this on themselves. It is unfortunate that they cannot look inside their own souls and see what damage they are now doing to this country.
But then again, that would assume that any of them actually has a soul to begin with.
All of the people that I have just mentioned would like nothing better then to see all of us who are out of work and trying to get work so that our families don’t starve just give up. Just quit. Quit looking for a job, quit trying to get ourselves out of the hole, quit trying to save ourselves and our families and just surrender to the inevitable. They just want us to quit, go off into the woods and die and take our families with us.
I have a one word answer to their request….
No.
Since that word seems to be the only thing that Republicans in Congress and those who support them seem to want to use these days, I figure it is time for the rest of us to use it on them.
No.
No, we will not quit looking for jobs even though you keep insisting that we do not want them.
No, we will not stop trying to get the few jobs there are out there even though you have said that we are Overqualified/Under-qualified/don’t have a good enough credit score/have been out of work too long to justify hiring us.
No, we will not stop trying to save ourselves and our families even though it would be easier for you if we just ceased to exist so that you would have to put up with the likes of us any longer.
Because they day that we did stop, the day that we did quit looking for a job, the day that we would quit trying to survive in a world where many of you would really rather have of vanish from the face of the earth would mean only one thing, and one thing only….
….if we quit it would mean that you, the bad guys, the villians in this story, would win.
The bad guys, in case you didn’t know, are the ones who are saying that the unemployed are a bunch of “lazy deadbeats” who don’t really want to work, and would rather sit on our asses and collect unemployment and let the government take care of us for the rest of our lives.
One of the bad guys is Sharon Angle, the Tea Party candidate trying to unseat Harry Reed in Nevada by bringing back prohibition. She is quoted as saying: “That’s what’s happened to us is that we have put in so much entitlement into our government that we really have spoiled our citizenry and said ‘you don’t want the jobs that are available.’”
Another bad guy is Sen Jon Kyl from Arizona who said on the floor of the Senate: “…that doesn’t create new jobs. In fact, if anything continuing to pay people unemployment compensation is a disincentive for them to seek new work.”
Yet another villian in this piece is Republican Congressman Steve King of Iowa who was quoted as saying: “We shouldn’t turn the ‘safety net’ into a ‘hammock’. It should actually be a ‘safety net’.” when talking about unemployment insurance.
Republican Congressman Dean Heller of Nevada is another evil doer in this story. He was quoted as saying that “the current economic downturn and policies may bring back the ‘hobos’ of “The Great Depression”, people who wandered the country taking odd jobs. I believe there should be a federal safety net,” Heller said, but he questioned the wisdom of extending unemployment benefits yet again to a total of 24 months, which Congress is doing. “Is the government now creating hobos?” he asked. Yeah congressman, hobos are being created due to the fact that those of us who are applying for jobs at Wal-Mart and McDonalds are being denied those jobs because we are “Overqualified” to stock shelves and flip burgers. We can’t even get the jobs picking oranges or broccoli that people like you complain that we don’t really want because the agricultural industry doesn’t want to pay us minimum wage. So what odd jobs are you talking about?!?

Luke...I AM YOUR FATHER!!!!!
But the Darth Vader of our little tale has to be Sen Orrin Hatch of Utah who famously quipped: “You know we should not be giving cash to people who…who basically are just going to go out and blow it on drugs.” Yeah Senator, like the antihistamine that I need to do any kind of work outdoors here in the Northern California mountains where the pollen count is this side of deadly, or the drugs I need to lower my cholesterol, or the new drug I just started to lower my blood pressure and manage the heart murmur that was just discover. But yeah, you’re right Senator! Why give cash to people who are just going to blow it on drugs that could possibly save their lives when your version of society says that you would be better off if they were dead?!?
Then there is Andre Bauer, the Lieutenant Governor of the State of South Carolina who says that we are all nothing but a bunch of stray animals. “My grandmother was not a highly educated woman but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed!!! You’re facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply, they will reproduce; especially ones that don’t think too much further than that. And so what you’ve got to do is you’ve got to curtail that type of behavior. They don’t know any better.”
So what would you suggest Mr. Bauer? Would you suggest that the State of South Carolina implement a program whereby the unemployed are rounded up and taken to hospitals so that they can be sterilized in some sort of “spay and release” program so that they can no longer breed? Are you suggesting that we treat the unemployed the same way we treat stray dogs and cats that have been in shelters too long by simply “putting them to sleep?” I believe that is what the Nazis did to the Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Trade Unionists, Communists and other “non-Arians” back in the 1930′s Mr. Bauer. Are you sure that you want to use those same tactics as your own “Final Solution” for the unemployed. I sincerely hope for your sake that you are not because you have a lot of unemployed constituents in South Carolina sir. I do not believe that they would take too kindly to the thought of them being pulled out of their homes, put onto trains and taken to the Death Camps. I am pretty sure that the people in your state would revolt sir, so might I suggest dropping whatever idea you might have in that regard?
There are a lot of people in this country who would rather that we just went away so that they can create their Conservative utopia. Well, that ain’t gonna happen folks. We’re not going anywhere. We are going to continue to be a source of inconvenience and embarrassment to you because we know that it drives you up the wall, and because we have children to care for. We are going to continue to apply for jobs, we are going to continue to network, we are going to continue to do everything that we can afford to do in order to secure a future for ourselves and our families, and we will be damned if we let any of you stop us from doing that.
So in closing I would just like to say to all of you out there who fit into any of the categories that I listed up above, and allow me to quote your favorite President and say…
“You are either with us…or you are against us.”
Until next time…
