“Open Season on Liberals” huh?

A couple of posts ago I stated in an open letter to the Tea Party Movement the reasons why they scare the hell out of me.

Now some Teabagger who is running for Congress in the California 11th has just shown everyone that my fears may be justified…

Brad Goehring is the Elmer Fudd wannabe who posted the following on his Facebook page:

If I could issue hunting permits I would officially declare today Opening Day for Liberals. The season would extend through November 2 and have no limits on how many taken as we desperately need to ‘thin’ the herd.

Since he posted this on his Facebook page he naturally took it down since it made him look like a potential serial killer, if not an outright idiot who could get a lot of people on both sides of the debate killed. Apparently the local FOX station went out looking for people who did or did not think that that was appalling and they found someone wearing a “No Obama” t-shirt who apparently said that what Goehring wrote was “pretty insane”.

That’s it?!?!? That’s all that you people have to say about it, that it was “pretty insane”?!?!? You don’t want to say that what he wrote was wrong, that he is not indicative of your or your Tea Partying friends, that you do not condone violence or the deliberate targeting of people who disagree with you and their families, that guys like this make all of you look like potential Timothy McVeighs just waiting for some sort of signal to attack people in their homes?!?!? “Pretty insane”?!?!?

A spokesman for Goehring said that he was “just using a metaphor” and the Tea Party supporter said that it was “just a joke.”

Guess what, he doesn’t know how to joke and I’m not laughing.

I’m sure that I am not alone either. I am sure that there are other people out there who have liberal family members who would be very angry if any harm were to befall those members of their families and would be looking to take revenge. And yeah, I know, getting revenge “is no solution” as my mother used to tell me whenever I wanted to defend myself from a bully. Well guess what? Sometimes there is no solution, and sometimes we are not interested in a solution. Sometimes we are only interested in hurting people back when they have hurt us unprovoked. If someone wanted to come after me because of something I said or wrote I would understand that, I am fully capable of defending myself – thank you.

But if someone wanted to come after my wife because she doesn’t believe the same as a Teabagger, then that Teabagger had better be prepared for a lot of pain, and expect to see her husband standing in front of his wife, locked and loaded, ready to put one between his eyes if forced to.

So if any of you Teabaggers have any thoughts about “paying my wife a visit” because she happens to be a liberal, if any of you think that she is going to be an easy target like a 15-point buck in the woods, if any of you think that she is never going to be missed – think again. And while you are at it, for your own safety, be sure that you remember this…

SHE IS DEFENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! Some people can justify with so little. If anyone else made some stupid remark along those lines, it would not be seen as a joke. Just goes to show you that some who do, can and those who can’t don’t….

Exactly! They just don’t stop and think that someone might take their remarks as a signal for them to start shooting people. It’s already happened with that one nut in Tennessee who walked into a church and started shooting the place up because of its “liberal policies”. How much longer would it be for someone to start tageting individuals?

Recently there were three gun restriction laws that did not pass in California – one would have outlawed “open carry” in all parts of the state. Another would have required long guns and rifles to be registered same as handguns, and a third would have required a registry for buying ammo. All three bills failed to pass – and that actually brought a sigh of relief from me.

I don’t consider myself to be a violent individual, but if there is some right-wing- tea party-extremist out there who is going to come gunning for me and my family, then I want to have the same 2nd Amendment rights that he has with the ability to use deadly force to defend us as much as he feels that he has the right to use deadly force to harm us. In other words – if they have a gun, then I want a gun too.

It’s rhetoric like what I described in the above post that doesn’t just piss me off – it scares me. Because if they feel that they have a right to use violence to get what they want and if they feel that no one else has the right to defend themselves then where does it end? How far is too far for them?
