Rick Santelli thinks we are “losers”

For those of you who haven’t seen Rick Santelli’s rant on CNBC on the floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange, well…you just have to see it to believe it:

I don’t think that there are words in the English language – or any other language for that matter – that can convey just how insulting those comment were to those of us out of work right now.

I was going to post this yesterday but I had to give myself a day to cool off because I was pretty hot about this yesterday. I even got into a lively debate on how this insulted job seekers on YouTube with a couple of dipwads who think that getting a job in this economy is easy. After assuring them that it is not and that a job is not the same thing as a handout I had to step away from the computer for a while, I was just a little too hot afterwards if you know what I mean.

Here’s the thing that a lot of people who still have jobs don’t understand. When they complain about having to bailout anyone whose house is being foreclosed on, they also include in that tirade the people who played by the rules but are about to lose their domicile because they lost their jobs through no fault of their own. When they say that the assets should be taken from the “losers” and given to the people who have a chance to succeed they are endorsing Socialism themselves, and they are talking about taking from us – the unemployed, underemployed and underutilized workers who are looking for yobs. They are talking about eliminating us from society because they have decided that we are all “unpersons” and don’t deserve a job, a home, or a life in some cases.

I have a question to ask of all of you out there who have jobs right now are are not in trouble like some of us are. Say that you encountered one of us and we overheard you talking about how lazy we are (allegedly)and how we don’t really want to work. Say that we overheard you say how we would rather sit on our butts and collect unemployment for the rest of our lives and say that one of us confronted you about it. Say that not only do we tell you that you are wrong and that we do actually want a job so that we don’t have to rely on anyone else, but that we also ask you if there are any job openings where you work and could you help me get a job there.

What would you do?

Would you point them towards your friend in HR? Would you put in a good word for this person?

Or would you sneer at them and tell them that you don’t give out “handouts” to “loser deadbeats” and that he should just f-off and die?

What do you do?
